I had a great concept for a ghost story tonight – even got most of an outline done before we went to see “Small Town Murder” in Sacramento. …Yeah, I should have known we weren’t going to get back until late. So, like last year, there was a haiku day and a spooky limerick day, we’re at the spooky limerick point in the month!
1.
There once was a ghost in the hall
Who whispered each night through the wall.
I finally cried, “Who?”
It answered, “Not you.”
Then something behind me said, “Paul.”
2.
There once was a clock striking ten
Though no one had wound it since when
Its owner had died.
Then a voice from inside
Said, “I’ll see you tomorrow again.”
3.
There once was a shape by the bed
That whispered the names of the dead.
I asked, “Why are you here?”
It leaned to my ear:
“Your name is the last one,” it said.
